THE FOUNDER OF KADIFF AND VICE CHAIRMAN NFFA MOURNS MR. IBU AND SISI QUADRI
The founder of Kaduna international film festival and Vice Chairman Nigerian film festivals Association Audu Kashim Israel mourns the recent death of two great Nollywood actors Mr. IBU and Sisi Quadri.
Popular Nollywood actor, John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu, died on Saturday 2nd March 2024 after battling ill-health. In October 2023, Mr Ibu fell ill and one of his legs was amputated to keep him alive. Following the amputation, the popular Nollywood actor died of cardiac arrest. He was a Nigerian actor and comedian. The comic actor came to the limelight in 2004 with the movie “Mr Ibu.” featuring another popular actor, Osita Iheme. Okafor acted in more than 200 Nollywood films including Mr. Ibu, Mr. Ibu and His Son, Coffin Producers, Husband Suppliers, International Players, Mr. Ibu in London, Police Recruit and many others. He has won awards to his credit. Audu identified the late Mr. IBU as a great actor who brought smile to so many people and families, you cannot be with him and not laugh. He was one of those that called for an end to homosexuality in Nollywood. "We will miss you great veteran star Mr. IBU".
Late Sisi Quadri, whose full name is Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, is also well-known comedy veteran Yoruba actor who gained notoriety for his performance in the December 4, 2004 film Seniyan Seranko. He was a popular veteran comic actor who dominated online skit-making and the Yoruba movie industry. He died after a brief illness. "He will be deeply missed by many including friends, colleagues and family".
It is with sadness I also received the death of a Nollywood star Kate Henshaw's mother yesterday. May God in his Mercy grant her mother eternal rest and comfort the family.
"May the Almighty God grant eternal rest to the dead and comfort both the immediate and Nollywood family" Audu said
KADIFF will indeed miss this wonderful veteran actors.
